Defender Jordi Alba has acknowledged that Inter Miami do miss the presence of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, but praised the team for their excellent run of form in their absence.
In a quote to MLS Wrap-Up, Alba said "We miss them a lot, for their international teams they’re doing really well and we hope they stay there for as long as possible, but for now, we’re doing well ourselves here, and we have to continue going with this form."
The comments come after Inter Miami's third consecutive win without Messi and Suarez, who are competing for Argentina and Uruguay at the Copa America. Young players like Ian Fray have stepped up admirably to fill the void left by the star forwards.
While recognising Messi and Suarez are immense talents that any team would struggle without, Alba was quick to highlight the strong team spirit and collective effort that has driven Inter Miami's recent victories. They have defeated formidable opponents like Nashville SC and Columbus Crew.

The Herons are proving they can thrive not just based on individual brilliance, but with a well- functioning overall unit. Manager Tata Martino will be encouraged by the depth displayed during the absence of his two biggest names.
When Messi and Suarez do eventually return from international duty, Inter Miami will undoubtedly be boosted further. But for now, comments from Alba show the attitude of staying focused on the job at hand without getting ahead of themselves. If they maintain this form, a successful season is well within reach.
